the last few days in china....beijing

last night was the first night since i got back that i was able to sleep through the night. i've been sick and working so it felt so nice to finally be able to get some rest.

i wanted to share the last part of our trip to china. while we were in beijing we visited the summer palace, tiananmen square, the forbidden city, and the great wall (we walked 2 miles on it).

our first day in beijing was spent exploring the city and finding a new hotel as the one we were supposed to stay in had no record of us. wouldn't be a family vacation without some small catastrophe.

on our second day we met our guide at 8:00am and set out to see the summer palace, tiananmen square and the forbidden city. it was rainy and a little chilly, which was actually a nice change from all the heat and humidity.

on the third day we took a van with our guide out the the great wall. the clouds had cleared up and it was a beautiful sunny day.  we arrived at the great wall before all the tours and crowds, which was wonderful. we took the chairlift up, yes a chairlift.

standing on the top of the great wall was an amazing experience, words will never be able to fully describe that feeling. we walked and walked and walked, completely amazed with every step. we walked about 2 miles and then took a toboggan down, super fun p.s.

we ate lunch at a restaurant at the base and then began to make our way back into the city. as we headed back the clouds began to roll in and the rain came. we had great timing and couldn't have asked for a more perfect day on the great wall.

we had such an amazing trip that i know none of us will ever forget. i have stories and pictures to last a lifetime. i feel so blessed to have been able to go on this adventure and i hope to one day be able to go back.

xoxo cbe
